Developing a Supervision Business in Minnesota

In this one-hour webinar, core knowledge and steps to confidently start a private supervision practice in Minnesota will be discussed  through the stories of three private clinical supervisors. This webinar is designed to provide a roadmap and resources for clinical supervisors considering their own independent supervision practice. An outline of essential steps & list of resources needed to support their own successful business launch will be provided.

By the end of this webinar, you will be equipped to navigate the licensing board regulatory landscape and consider different operational frameworks, from defining your supervision model and business structure to implementing effective marketing strategies. Furthermore, you will gain the practical tools needed to launch a sustainable clinical supervision practice while avoiding common pitfalls and maintaining high quality standards.

About the Presenters

Katrina Cisneros, MSW, LICSW

Katrina Cisneros (she/her) is a Senior Teaching Specialist and full-time faculty member at the School of Social Work, University of Minnesota Twin Cities. Through her business, From the Root, LLC she also provides both group and individual reflective clinical supervision, organizational consultation and training.  She is a bilingual Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and activist who has expertise working with chronically stressed individuals and families in a variety of complex settings but, most importantly, always in community. Katrina has extensive social work experience across multiple areas of direct practice including public child welfare, nonprofit settings, and international work. She enjoys teaching, training, and consulting in the areas of trauma informed approaches both in direct clinical practice and in organizations and systems.  Her community engaged passions center around embedding anti-oppressive practice in healing spaces and changing conditions that cause harm, with an emphasis on transformative justice. She currently supports work in Tijuana, Mexico providing care to the most vulnerable asylum seekers who are unjustly and dangerously awaiting entry at the border.

Heidi Presslein, MSW, LICSW

Heidi Presslein (she/her) began her work at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities in 2008.  She is currently the Director of Practicum Education, a Senior Teaching Specialist, and a full-time faculty member.  Since 1999, Heidi has maintained a private practice, Totems, Inc. Through this organization, she has provided individual, couples, and family therapy, and clinical supervision for individuals, groups, and corporations. Heidi loves to mentor others in effective social work practice, navigate licensure processes, and engage in reflective practice.  Special areas of interest at this time are group practices, international social work, policy implementation and change processes, and effective practice evaluation.  

Mary Tinucci, DSW, LICSW

Mary Tinucci, LICSW, DSW is a clinical social worker, social work educator at Walden University, and clinical social work supervisor in private practice in St. Paul, Minnesota.

 Through her private practice, Think in Possibilities she provides clinical supervision for social workers pursuing next-level social work licensure in Minnesota, coaching for personal well-being, and career coaching for social workers throughout the United States who are exploring next steps in their career development. Since 2018, Mary has been a full-time Core Faculty in the MSW Program of the Barbara Solomon School of Social Work Program at Walden University. She has been a social worker since 1988. For most of her career, she was a social worker and clinical supervisor in St. Paul Public Schools (1991-2015). She has been a social work educator since 2003, teaching in BSW and MSW programs at St. Catherine University/University of St. Thomas, Simmons College, and Walden University.
